Portrait v1 Logic

Radhakrishnan Vivek protrait

I would like to thank the lecturer (Mr. Clement Zheng) for providing the initial methods of manipulating images in Grasshopper (Rhinoceros’s plugin).

From the initial methods, the points of brightness from my image were extracted and amplified by a factor of five. Since, the locations and the amplitudes of the points were known, what was left was the shape to represent the final image (my face).

I chose square grids due to two reasons. Firstly, I did not believe that a rigid grid of squares could map the contours of the face. Secondly, I wanted to create a waffle effect to the image to give it the effect when looked through a vertical-strip glass door (commonly used as the door to isolate the shower area from the restroom)
