The Layer Stool is a stool iteration of the Layer Chairs series. It is an exploration of how different profile curves (mountains, cello, chair etc.) can be converted into layers and put together. Via parametric definitions, the designer experimented with the respective variables like milling curves, material thickness, chair width, milling bit size to achieve the perfect personal chair.
Materials (per chair) include one colored sheet of 18mm medium-density-fibre wood (MDF), glue to stick the separate wood layers together and BBQ sticks as alignment pins. Different finishing processes like lacquering and waxing are investigated for a waterproof chair.
Why not DIY?
