The N12 bikini is the world’s first ready-to-wear, completely 3D-printed clothing. Every single piece of the N12 bikini is made directly by SLS 3D printing and they snap together without any sewing. Its material is Nylon-12 which is able to bend without breaking when printed very thin, thus it is possible to make working springs and almost thread-like connections.
Following the curvature of its surface, circles of a basic diameter were laid out, then smaller circles were then added to fill in the gaps. The thousands of circular plates are connected by thin strings. Thus a flexible surface is created out of solid nylon.
